TERI

1.6 billion people in the world lack access to electricity
25% of them live in India

Lighting a Billion Lives aims at displacing kerosene and paraffin lanterns with solar lighting devices, providing better illumination & kerosene-smoke-free environment and providing opportunities for livelihood.

How the LaBL model works?

Based on a set of selection criteria, TERI along with their implementation partners identify a village, following which they identify an entrepreneur in that village. The partners then help in setting up a charging station and providing the lamps with the entrepreneur being responsible for maintaining records.

How we contributed?

Lintas Media Group was the pioneer agency in India to adopt a village, Ghevta in the Viratnagar district of Jaipur, in the Light a Billion Lives project promoted and initiated by TERI (The Energy & Resource Institute, the Nobel Peace Prize winner for 2007).

We conducted pro bono media buying worth Rs. 33.06 million in two weeks across television, radio, print and magazines resulting in a total collection of Rs. 3 million.
